 Setting News:

Wisps are working hard towards their development plans for physical development and the setting now have a huge range of physical equipment for the children to experience and enjoy. We are also looking at sensory development and offering the children more materials that allow the children to use all their senses to investigate.

Thank you to those parents/carers who attended parents evenings. This is a wonderful opportunity for you to speak with your child’s keyperson and find out about all the great things your child has been experiencing during their time at Wisps. Your child’s keyperson takes great pride and pleasure in completing their development books and they love to share these with you.

The school leavers will be starting their new journeys in September and this term we will be helping to prepare them in their new journeys and help them feel confident and happy about their transitions into school. Any questions/concerns you have about this please come and speak with us. This precious time can also be just as anxious for you the parent and Wisps will always do our best to support you and your child.

Staff would like to remind you about ensuring you fill out “Wow moments” from home. We would like to include you in your child development book and you do see your child achieve different milestones within the home environment.

Your child’s keyperson will ensure these home wow’s are in your child’s green folder for you to complete.

Changes to September:

For the children still attending Wisps in September I am informing you that we will be changing the morning session times. If your child attends a morning session the new times will be 8.45am-11.45am. Lunch will still be an option for the morning children as we sit at 11.15am for lunch. If you would prefer them to have lunch once they are home, this is no problem. There will be no other changes to the session times. The afternoon session will start at 12pm and finish at 3pm. If your child is attending a full day this will be 9-3 unless you have stipulated otherwise.

Wisps have not increased hourly fees for a few years now. The new hourly rate from September will be £4.10.

We have been focusing on the layout of the outdoor area ensuring that all seven areas of the EYFS are being met and that accidents are being reduced.  Our current development in the setting is mathematics, we are trying to make the setting look more mathematically visual o children can access number and shape recognition throughout their session. We are also looking at buying some games such as snakes and ladders and hopscotch for the outdoor environment. If you do have any resources at home that could help develop this area further please feel to bring them into the setting, this would be much appreciated.

We currently have two students with us at this present time who are learning from the setting about childcare development and the EYFS. We have Chloe Hill from BCOT who is studying NVQ level 2 in childcare and Kerry Newell who is undertaking her EYPS (Early Years Professional Status). We hope you welcome them into the setting.
